Introducing Our New Communications Associate, Fatima Zaidi!

Hi everyone, my name is Fatima Zaidi, and I am the newest Communications Associate here at GEM! I am currently completing an HonoursBachelor of Arts in CCIT with a minor in Professional Writing & Communications and Ethics, Law and Society at the University of Toronto.

I gained interest in this field after taking a first-year course in Communications, I deeply enjoyed the projects we had including making podcasts, movie posters, websites, and countless other projects but most importantly I looked forward to coming to class daily. Eventually, I enrolled into the program and have loved it ever since. My minor in Professional Writing & Communications comes from my passion for writing as it has always provided me with a sense of therapy and relaxation. Furthermore, my minor in Ethics, Law and Society equips me with a new outlook on life and I find it to be quite interesting! Being raised in Toronto and coming from a background of first generation university going students, getting an education was always very important for me. Not only did I love learning, but my parents loved educating me and helping me achieve my dreams. My parents immigrated from Pakistan over twenty-nine years ago and have worked incredibly hard to afford the life I am living right now -they are my biggest supporters. Working with an organization that values youth empowerment and education really hits home for me!  

Going forward, I am very excited to be supporting the team with internal and external program planning and I hope to develop new skills and learning experiences that will allow me to succeed in this role!
