GEMinar 1: Personal Branding with LinkedIn (2021-22)

Thank you, LinkedIn, for hosting our very first GEMinar for the 2021-22 Program Year! This GEMinar session is concentrated on personal branding and building a LinkedIn profile.

We started off by having an encouraging keynote from Haleema Ahmed, who is a GEM alumna from the 2020-21 Cohort. Haleema talked about her journey to post-secondary school and the impact of the GEM Program and her GEM Mentor. She also provided tips about how to be successful in the program.

Next, participants entered Breakout Rooms to complete an activity centred around building self-awareness about our strengths, skills, and values.

Then, Jaqueline Beall from LinkedIn facilitated the Rock Your Profile Session, showing participants how to build a professional network and engage in personal branding.

In the second Breakout Room activity, mentees and mentors practiced building their own LinkedIn headline and reflected on observations and challenges while doing so.
