Girls E-Mentorship’s inaugural Mentorship Matters Luncheon will bring together a group of guests in support of GEM’s plans to accept 100 girls into the program annually. The luncheon will be hosted at the Chase Restaurant, and will feature a talk given by renowned keynote speaker Dr. Jennifer Golbeck.

Dr. Jennifer Golbeck is a world leader in social media research and communication. As the Director of the Social Intelligence Lab at the University of Maryland, her research has influenced industry, government, and the military. She is a pioneer in the field of social data analytics, discovering people’s hidden attributes from their online behaviour, and is a leader in creating human-friendly security and privacy systems. Her TED talk “Your social media ‘likes’ expose more than you think” was named as one of the most influential talks of 2014. In addition to her work as a professor at the University of Maryland, she writes for Slate and The Atlantic, and appears frequently on NPR and commercial talk radio.
